Augmented Reality

By augmented reality or “AR”, we mean the enrichment of human sensory perception using information, which has usually been manipulated or managed electronically.
The elements that “augment” reality can be added via a mobile device, like a smartphone, or tablet equipped with a webcam or other sensors, with visual devices (such as glasses that project onto the retina), aurally (through headphones) and by touch or gesture (gloves). These items add multimedia information to the everyday reality normally perceived. The “added” information can even consist of a decrease in the quantity of sensory information a person usually perceives, in order to make a situation clearer or more useful or fun. This too is AR. In AR the user keeps on experiencing the normal physical realty, but also receives information, which adds to or manipulates that reality. In an industrial context, AR can help improve logistical processes or maintenance management.

Augmented reality applied to logistics
